WINDOWS 10 FOR PC AND PHONES

INTRODUCTION

Microsoft officially announced Windows 10 last September but it
took until the end of last month to get more details about it and
finally get to try it. Number 9 was skipped and Microsoft is wants
us to believe that it's because an upgrade of such magnitude
deserves a notable digit. We now have a unified platform that runs
on phones, slates, and PCs, or so the PR materials go.
Actually things are a bit more complicated with Microsoft offering
one version of Windows 10 for large devices (8+ inch screens) and
another one for small devices (phones and small tablets). Chances
are things will get even more complicated if ARM-based large
slates are to arrive in the future, but that's beyond the point here.
What Microsoft has done is tailor the experience to the size class
so you won't get a classic desktop with tiny icons on your small
phone, and you won't have to waste any space when you get the
more accurate mouse and keyboard combo at hand. The
unification consists in many shared interfaces that should will
make you feel at home as you switch between form factors.

More importantly, much of the code inside the OS is shared across
form factors and devices, which will allow developers to create
apps that work everywhere, even on an Xbox. Microsoft itself led
the way creating a unified People app working across all Windows
10 devices, shared Outlook app plus the mandatory Office
package.
Windows 10 Technical Preview for Desktop was already released a
while back, but we finally got to see Windows 10 Technical
Preview for Phones. And you bet we were eager to get a glimpse of
what's coming and we've downloaded it immediately.
The Preview for Phones is currently available for Lumia 630,
Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730 and Lumia 830. It
will later be seeded to Insider program member with Lumia 1520,
Lumia 930 and Lumia 1020. Microsoft has promised that by the
time Windows 10 is ready for primetime, it will be compatible with
all Windows 8-based Lumia smartphones, even if those with
limited processing power might miss on some of the new features.

ZTE Blade L3

While ZTE launched the Blade S6 earlier this week, it on Thursday also introduced a new handset dubbed ZTE Blade L3.

The smartphone's price and availability details are yet to be confirmed. However, the handset might be significantly cheaper than Blade S6, which is priced at $249.99, based on the slightly lower specifications mentioned by the company.

Like the ZTE Blade S6, the cheaper Blade L3 will also run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box. It features the same 5-inch display but with a lower qHD resolution (540x960 pixels). Instead of a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor seen in Blade 6, the ZTE Blade L3 is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582M processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The ZTE Blade L3 houses an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and 8GB of inbuilt storage for which expandability details are not yet known. A 2000mAh battery powers the smartphone, which the company says will be available in several colours including "unique pearlescent colours".

ZTE on Wednesday launched its Blade S6, which will be available globally starting February 10. Some of the highlights of the ZTE Blade S6 include ZTE's AliveShare application for network-less communication and Smart Sense gesture motion control. The Chinese handset maker touts that the ZTE Blade S6 is "world's first Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core smartphone running the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system." The design ethics of the Blade S6 match with that of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with similar bold curved edges and camera design.

WHATSAPP SIM

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging services worldwide, with the company recently announcing 700 million monthly active users. Now, in an attempt to woo the large WhatsApp user base, an Italian company has launched WhatSim, a WhatsApp-only SIM that comes with a plan that will let you use the popular messaging app for free while travelling across about 150 countries.

Manuel Zanella Rngineer, Founder and CEO of Zeromobile, the company behind WhatSim, says, "WhatsApp is the future of mobile communications. Its only "limit" is the data connection especially when you are traveling because the roaming charges are expensive and you can't always find Wi-Fi everywhere and it is not always free. As someone who appreciates and uses WhatsApp, I tried to figure out how to get around this problem. That's why WhatSim is an extraordinary opportunity for WhatsApp."
For EUR 10 , users will get a SIM card (standard worldwide shipping is EUR 5 - Rs. 350 approximately) unlimited text messaging for a year. While sending and receiving text messages, location updates, and contacts via WhatsApp is free, users will have to buy credits for sharing multimedia messages such as photos, videos, and voice messages. How much you get for your credits depends on where you are travelling.

Zanella further explains, "The solution we have developed is simple and intuitive. With €5 you get 1000 credits that you can use, for instance, to exchange 50 photos or 10 videos in many countries around the world. There are no limits to sharing your position and contacts. This way we guarantee the utmost transparency. Buying a recharge is quick and easy: just go to our website even from your smartphone and soon even from a dedicated app."

WhatSim is available to buy via the WhatSim website, with the company also planning to make it available via "network of local distributors in over 100 countries."

Of course this is not the first time someone's offering a SIM with unlimited WhatsApp usage, though earlier attempts have been limited to a specific country. Last year, WhatsApp, in partnership with E-Plus, a mobile telecommunications operator in Germany, started selling prepaid SIMs that offered unlimited WhatsApp usage.

HTC ONE M9

More images of the upcoming HTC One M9 has been leaked. This time the phone images are less blurry and shows that the power button has been moved from the top of the device to a more accessible location on the right side near volume rockers.

The images also shows the back of the phone that was seen in another leak couple of days back. Even this image shows the rear camera that has a square module than a round one which is seen for the dual camera. The One M9 does resemble the design of the One M8. The sources from the recent leak also reveal the specs of the phone like a 5-inch 1080p display, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, an UltraPixel front-facing camera, Snapdragon’s next-generation 810 processor (with 8 cores), 3 GB of RAM, and a 2,840 mAh battery.
The Boom sound speaker and sleeker bezels are still seen on the phone at the top and bottom of the display. HTC event at the MWC is set for March 1st, 4PM CET (8:30PM IST)
